Making the Aragorn's costume (duster, vest, shirt, bed-roll, glove, quiver, cloak)

This Strider kit is created entirely by hand in our family Workshop. Natural materials were used in the work: leather, wool, cotton and linen.

About duster:
The Strider's duster made of genuine leather, gathered on a lacing. And this is the most accurate replica of the cloak from the first part of the film that you could ever meet. We sewed our first cape inspired by Aragorn costume seven years ago and since then we have carefully studied the references and conducted many experiments to create the perfect Duster, which we can be proud of!
The most difficult moment is the choice of leather…for a very long time we were not satisfied with any of the factory (ready-made) leathers, so now we're dyeing and finishing each piece by hand. It is a difficult and tedious process, but the result is worth it. This is really the right shade of green :)
An equally important point is the choice of cords for assembling the coat. We used two types of cords of different thickness, because the references show that the details of the cloak are gathered together with a thin cord, and the sleeves - with a thicker one. The cords and threads have also been hand-dyed to match the leather perfectly.
And "the icing on the cake" - an overlay on the sleeve with intricate handmade embroidery, the design of which we guessed for not a single month :))

About vest:
Aragorn's sleeveless jerkin is worn in LOTR under his duster.
This replica of his tabard we stitched from genuine goat leather.
The outer part of the vest looks like suede, while inside it is smooth. We gave it a more worn look with weathering and sanding.
Sleeveless, ties in front, laced at the sides. Stitched in back to waist.
All edges except bottom are edged in leather strips.
Bottom edge is irregular. The back is about 3" longer than the front.

About gray shirt:
Here you can see the first and only most accurate replica of Aragorn's gray shirt.
It has an unusual shaped yoke with a neck hole small enough that when the shirt is tied, the collar rolls up to the neck so it appears to be a collar. The yoke is finished with hand embroidered "X"s along the yoke seam (on the yoke side).
At the top of the sleeve there is a complex pattern of smocking. This is a separate piece from the sleeves. It is a rectangle piece of fabric and does not go all around the sleeve. The under part of the sleeve is again plain fabric that has been stitched to the smocking piece.

About glove:
The glove is a replica and as accurately as possible repeats all the details of the accessory used by Aragorn.
As in the movie, the glove has a wrist lapel laced with leather tape.
For the manufacture of the glove, we used three types of leather, different in color and texture.
Sewn entirely by hand.

About bed-roll:
The roll is a replica and as accurately as possible repeats all the details of the accessory used by Aragorn.
Moreover, it is a functional item: the woolen blanket is sewn to the leather base, so the twist is easy to unfold and roll.
Leather base size: 28.3 "x 14.9"
Woolen blanket size: 55.1 "x 73.2"
The belt is sewn to the leather base at two points and has an insert with lacing holes for adjusting the length.
The roll is tied with three pairs of straps.

About quiver:
Here is the most accurate replica of Aragorn's quiver. The dimensions of the quiver are designed for a height of 180 cm.
All fittings for this quiver were 3D modeled according to our sketches, printed in plastic and then cast by a jeweler from neusilber (an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc).
The quiver is made of leather of different thicknesses, all details are stitched by hand. The quiver is waxed.
The fabric element is hemmed to the top of the quiver and has ties, which completely repeats the design from the movie.

About cloak:
In the photo you see several options for cloaks: linen and double-layer cotton. The linen one was made for a photo shoot, and the two-layer cotton one is an exact replica from the movie.
